  1. Turmeric: A spice often used in Indian cooking, it’s a root that looks similar to ginger and is incredibly healthy and full of antioxidants. It is most often being used in fresh juice recipes.
  2. Small Desserts: It’s impossible to eliminate indulgence altogether, but small bites for a treat are trending. Cake pops, mochi, and mug cakes are good examples of this.
  3. No Waste: Food prices continue to climb, resulting in a return to a mindset of using everything. Organ meat is returning to popularity, and the internet is bursting with tips on how to use other “leftovers” like the pulp from your juicer.
  4. Burned: Grilled food is always a crowd favorite, but it’s making headlines this year in every category. Not only are proteins and vegetables getting grill marks, but desserts are joining in and smoky flavors are even being added to cocktails
  5. Oatmeal: It’s a popular healthy breakfast, but oatmeal is a rising star once again. Overnight Oats are an easy twist, while others are elevating oatmeal with luxurious ingredients.
  6. Bread: Tasty and delicious, bread has been left off the menu due to diets encouraging low-carb eating. Now, loaves made out of ancient grains are making a comeback.
  7. Fermented Foods: Saurkraut and kimchi might be popular, but there are many other fermented foods becoming more well known. These good-for-your-gut foods (like kombucha and kefir) will only continue to become more common.
  8. Breakfast Bowls: Smoothies in a bowl topped with beautiful arrangements of fruit, granola, nuts, and other creative toppings are all the rage on Instagram. Easy, healthy, and photogenic, there’s little to dislike about this trend!
  9. Avocado Oil: A healthy oil high in monounsaturated fats, avocado oil is becoming popular to use as a replacement for olive oil in cooking.
