Without a doubt, planning that “just-right” menu for your wedding or party is often challenging. From deciding which foods complement one another to making sure you have enough food for everyone, it may seem overwhelming. When either you or any of your guests has gluten sensitivity, then you have entirely different challenges when planning the right menu for your special occasion.

People who must avoid gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye) are constantly vigilant about what they eat. Those who have gluten sensitivities find that eating gluten can cause stomach problems, headache or fatigue.

Fortunately, more people have grown aware of celiac disease and other gluten sensitivities. As a result, more gluten-free recipes are currently available than in the past. Even many of the foods which are popular at wedding receptions and parties now have gluten-free alternatives. Even better? They usually taste great!

The following gluten-free recipes sound so delicious that you may not believe they are gluten-free (but they really are!)

Gluten-Free Recipes: Hors d’oeuvres/Appetizers

This is a simple and tasty recipe.

The first step involves clean and coring either grape or cherry tomatoes. Then combine goat cheese, Italian dressing, basil, and salt & pepper. Finally, fill the cored tomatoes with the goat cheese mixture before serving.

Here is another gluten-free recipe which is perfect for parties of all sizes.

The ingredients include cucumbers, cherry (or grape) tomatoes, cream cheese, mayo, chopped green onions, and Ranch seasoning mix. Fresh herbs for a garnish makes a nice, but optional, touch.

If you like chicken, then you’ll definitely enjoy this appetizer. Chicken breasts are flattened, sliced thin, then marinated and grilled. Serve them on skewers with a zesty Thai-style peanut butter sauce and enjoy!

Gluten-Free Recipes: Entrées

This recipe involves stuffing flank steak with sautéed mushrooms, spinach, pancetta and goat cheese. After searing and then cooking it to perfection in the oven, it’s a scrumptious gluten-free entrée which everyone will enjoy.

Flavorful and moist – and it is easy to prepare. The recipe suggests serving over the salmon over rice, which is naturally gluten-free.

This delicious gluten-free recipe will also satisfy your vegetarian guests.

One ingredient note: The recipe calls for red miso, which is sometimes made from barley, rather than rice. Make sure of which one type is used if you must avoid gluten.

Gluten-Free Recipes: Desserts

Some wedding cake designers and chefs have mastered gluten-free wedding cakes which taste as wonderful as they look! If you are interested in serving desserts other than cake, you can easily find gluten-free recipe options that will certainly satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth!

This dessert is a moist, gluten-free chocolate roll cake (roulade), which is filled with sweetened whipped cream, cream cheese, fluffy white frosting, and chocolate frosting.

As the author of this recipe states, “Few desserts are as pretty and as easy to make as a pavlova.”

With a light meringue topping, and fresh strawberries and kiwi, it’s a sweet, refreshing dessert option, especially for special occasions held during the warmer weather months.

These little cookies are adorable. They also taste great with a combination of coffee and chocolate flavors which results in a dessert with a little kick!
