Hosting and/or planning an event can be extremely stressful. If you’re not used to event planning, the process can seem overwhelming at first, but with a few guidelines and some easy steps, you can pull it off like a pro.
Step 1: Determine Guest List
The number of attendees at your party will determine many other factors, such as venue and food. Even before you get the RSVPs, you’ll have an idea of an approximate number of those attending. For smaller parties, a more adventurous menu and more places to host it are possible. For larger parties, you’ll want the menu to be more “generic” to work with dietary restrictions and the event space will have to be able to accommodate the large number of guests, potentially limiting your options.
Step 2: Book a Venue
This might be as simple as your backyard or as involved as a hotel ballroom. Knowing the size of your event will help you immediately focus your booking efforts. You will, also, need to take weather and any audio/visual needs into account. Many event spaces will require a deposit, so plan to work that into your budget even if the event is months away. Step 3: Send Invitations
Private parties, weddings, and birthdays should have invitations sent in the mail. Even in the information age, we still love to receive a special note in our physical mailboxes and it lends an intimate feel to your event. For corporate events, it is acceptable to email invitations and event information.
Step 4: Hire a Caterer (preferably us!)
You don’t want to spend your party in the kitchen or have to unload Costco-sized food servings from your car. Worse still, you don’t want to forget something essential like the napkins or water. Here are the 8 Reasons To Call A Caterer Today. If you need some inspiration for the kind of menu to serve at a corporate event, read this post.
Step 5: Decorations
Party themes are fun and can be a great way to add interest to your event. Whether it’s a casino night or a winter wonderland holiday party, decide on a few key elements like colors and centerpieces. Your caterer can, also, help you create a menu around a specific theme.
That’s all you need! While you will fill in the details and make specific decisions as you go through the planning process, these 5 steps will keep you on track and make it as smooth as possible for you. We can accommodate a variety of event spaces, menus, and themes, so let us help you plan for your next party!
