Giving Employees a Themed Party for Halloween

With Halloween only a couple of weeks away, many people are making plans for dressing up, going trick-or-treating, or attending parties.

Throwing a Halloween-themed party in your office provides your employees with the opportunity to have some fun and relax with their coworkers.

And even though the holiday itself falls on a Saturday this year, who says you can’t celebrate in your office on a Friday?

Here are a few fun ideas for throwing a company Halloween party that everyone in your office will enjoy

Food for thought: Delicious Halloween-themed goodies are a must

From appetizers that are “to die for” to sinfully delicious sweets, your company Halloween party food is probably what your employees will anticipate most.

In our Halloween Food Fun post from last year, we shared a variety of “fiendishly fantastic” menu ideas and recipes.

Although a catered party is always a nice option, you may consider hosting a potluck for your company Halloween party. This gives employees the chance to bring their own ghoulishly delicious creations to share.

And of course, you should reward the tastiest, creepiest, or most unique recipe or recipes!

Nicole Tinkham shares several fun and creative Halloween themed recipes which are perfect for an office party in her article for KeetonsOnline. They include the following:

  • Zombie Eyeballs (Click here for the recipe)
  • Ghost Cupcakes (Click here for the recipe)
  • Thai-Spiced Deviled Eggs (Click here for the recipe)
  • Pumpkin Popcorn Balls (Click here for the recipe)

Dress-up is fun for grownups, too

How often do we get to play dress-up as grownups? Letting your employees wear costumes (with restrictions, of course) can definitely add another fun aspect to your company Halloween party.

A delightful trend for Halloween-themed office parties is group costumes. Group costumes help create a sense of unity and no one feels left out. At the same time, no employee should feel pressured to participate.

Here is a small sample of 100 winning group Halloween costume ideas from Brit + Co – and they are all amazing:

  • Minions
  • Mario Kart
  • Dominoes (the game, not the pizza)
  • 101 Dalmatians
  • M&Ms

Finally, don’t forget the fun and games!

Decorating the office for Halloween can be simple and inexpensive. Party City and similar party stores are always great places to find seasonal decorations, as well as themed plates, cups, napkins, and other party supplies.

Some offices allow their employees to decorate their individual cubicles or offices. You may consider doing this as well, and making it into a contest with prizes for the winner(s).

Amsterdam Printing shares some other Halloween-themed activities that sound like fun for all:

  • Create a “haunted” cubicle maze
  • Create Halloween versions of “Pin the Tail” games
  • Check the internet for printable games like Halloween Bingo
  • Have Pumpkin ring toss
  • Hire a magician (if your budget allows)

And finally, don’t forget to take plenty of photos to share on social media or your website.

Enjoy – and have a Happy Halloween!
